Artist: Penni Jo Couch
This fancy box was inspired by a picture of a beautiful bone and metal box shown in a catalog. The box is made of a six sided paper mache ornament. The bottom was cut off, leaving a flat space. Cardstock glued in place to make a bottom for the box. The top was cut off on five of the six sides. The sixth side was scored to allow it to flex. The box was painted, antiqued and allowed to dry. The parts were molded of dark metallic brown clay and gently pressed in place on the box. All parts were colored using Pearl Ex powders before baking. Twisted ropes decorate the openings. The parts were baked in place on the painted box. A clay base was added for strength and decortive feet for style. Super glue was used to affix the parts. The mirror image hummingbirds
were made using the mini mold and the smallest bird in the Hummingbird Lane
