Molded hearts

1. Preparing the frame

  • Remove the clear acrylic sheet.

  • Undercoat: Paint the frame front and back with white paint.

  • Allow to dry.

2. Color Paint Application

  • Using a plastic plate or paint pallet, pour out a small puddle of blue, white and pink paint.

  • Paint the bottom fourth of the frame with the pink.

  • While the pink paint is still wet, pick up a little white paint on the brush and dab it into the pink. Continue to apply more white until about two thirds of the way up the frame.

  • By then you should be applying only white paint and the color should be very, very light pink.

  • Wash the brush and start at the top with blue.

  • Paint blue to about one inch from the top.

  • Begin adding white to the blue blending it to nearly white as you get to where you quit painting the very, very light pink.

  • Wash the brush and pick up white, going back into the blue with soft, curving strokes, forming fluffy “clouds”.

  • When you are satisfied with the effect, allow to dry.

3. Preparing the parts for baking.

Put the pink ball into the center of the light pink flower

Pick up the pink tiny ball and press it gently into the center of the light pink flower.

Add the leaf and flower with pink center to the cherub’s head as shown.

Put the flower and leaf on the Cherub's head

Press the leaf on first and then the flower on as shown, near the cherub’s left ear.

Put the cherub on a baking surface.

Make three holes in the crease where the front paw overlaps the lower paw using a thin wire, like a straight pin.

  • The beaded wires holding the hearts will glue into these holes.

  • Make a hole in each heart as shown.

  • Bake all the parts following manufacturer’s instructions. Allow to cool.

  • Paint the cherub’s eyes black.

  • Dry brush the wings with white paint, allowing the detail of the feathers to show.

  • Cut three pieces of wire approx. 1” long. (You can have one shorter and one longer if you like.)

  • Glue a wire into each heart as shown above using Cyanoacrylate Glue.

  • Thread beads onto the wire, leaving about 1/4” bare.

  • Put a drop of Cyanoacrylate Glue in the opening of the last bead to prevent the beads from sliding off of the wire while handling.

  • Glue the three wires into the holes in the crease between the paws using Cyanoacrylate Glue.

  • When dry, gently curve the wires down over the paw to hang over the opening on the frame.

  • Glue the cherub with hearts to the top of the frame as shown using strong glue.

  OPTIONAL

  •  Line the opening with ‘pearls’, start at the center of the top and glue the strand of ‘pearls’ to the inner edge of the frame opening using strong glue.

  • Allow to dry.

  • Varnish the cherub and frame using suitable varnish.

  • Replace the clear acetate ‘window’ in the frame.

  • Add your favorite photo and ‘shower’ them with love.
