 Symbols of Faith Mini Frame

Symbols of Faith Mini Frame

Materials needed:

  • Sweetbrier Studio Flexible Art Mold #1004 “Symbols of Faith”

  • Small wood photo frame approx. 2.75” by 4” inches.

  • Acrylic paint or varnish in your choice of color. We painted ours brown.

  • Polymer clay colors: Tan or ivory

  • Acrylic Paint Colors: Off white and brown.

  • Strong Glue like E-6000® or other strong bond glue.

  • Varnish recommended by the manufacturer of the clay.

  • Brushes: Small brushes for acrylic paint and varnish.

  • Bead: One brightly sparkling 5 or 6 mm ‘jewel’. Flat back works best.

  • Optional: Pasta maker to condition the clay.

  • Mold Release Agent: If a release agent is needed, dust the openings with baby powder, corn starch or lightly mist with water.

Instructions for “Symbols of Faith Mini Frame”

Symbols of Faith Flexible Mold

Mold the following using polymer clay

  • Mold One each C-3 & F-2
  • Flatten the back of each piece before demolding.
  • To Demold: Gently flex the mold backward in several areas, loosening the part, then flex more fully, lifting or tipping the part from the mold.
  • Prepare the frame for painting or staining.
  • Remove the glass or clear acrylic sheet.
  • Sand lightly, wipe clean.
  • Paint the frame with brown paint. Allow to dry.
  • Sand lightly, wipe clean and paint a second time.
  • Allow to dry.
  • Place the molded parts onto a baking surface.
  • Bake all the parts following manufacturer’s instructions. Allow to cool.
  • Dry brush the fish and the tiny cross with off white paint, highlighting the edges as shown.
  • Using strong glue, glue the cross and fish in place as shown. When glue is dry, varnish the cross, fish and frame.
  • Glue the sparkling jewel to the center of the cross as shown using strong glue.
  • Replace the glass or clear acetate ‘window’ in the frame.
  • Add your favorite photo.
